Scouting
Scouting involves thoroughly inspecting a crop to find areas of pest infestation, flagging areas of pest infestation and marking these areas on a map. Scouts fill out a pest scouting report which includes information such as which pests are present, the severity of the pest pressure, the presence or absence of beneficial insects, the percent mortality after chemical treatment, percent parasitism, the presence of plant disease and more. The scouts in our company treat hot spots with predatory mites and beneficial insects. Our scouts are knowledgeable and are happy to answer questions regarding pest scouting.
Crop Observation
Through weekly crop inspections, our staff will keep you informed about the status of your crop. We will work with you to develop preventative and treatment methods that help manage and control pests. By implementing our prevention strategies, you can save money by delaying pest onset and by decreasing the rate of pest population growth. We also promote early detection through the use of banker plants, sticky cards, and scouting.
Distribution
We observed that when workers applied predatory mites to hot spots, they often made mistakes due to misunderstanding or a lack of knowledge. An option available to our customers is to have our scouts apply biologicals to the hotspots. Our scouts are familiar with the spots that need treatment, the amount of biologicals to use on each spot, and the best place to apply the biologicals on the plants.
Sample Analysis
Water, solution, media, and plant tissue samples are collected by our staff and sent for laboratory processing. The results can be viewed by growers using an online password.
Diagnostics
Our staff is familiar with fungal, viral and bacterial infections which can afflict greenhouse crops. Plant samples are collected by our staff and sent for diagnostic testing. We will discuss strategies to prevent or decrease the spread of infections. |
