Job Title: Scout leading to Crop Advisor

 

Type: Permanent Full-Time

Salary: Wages are dependent upon work experience, knowledge, and progress while working with the company.

Job Summary:  Scouting involves mapping areas of pest infestation and evaluating the level of severity by accounting for details such as pest population growth and the presence of beneficial insects.  Our scouts also treat pest hot spots with predatory mites and beneficial insects.  Applicants successful in achieving the role of crop advisor will be responsible for gaining new customers, working with growers in crop planning, improving pest management strategies and providing recommendations to greenhouse growers.  Crop advisors are also responsible for managing scouts and assisting them in their progress.  

Key Requirements: College or university education in the field of entomology.  Able to work efficiently in a greenhouse environment. 

Assets: Experience working in agriculture.  Experience with biocontrol in greenhouse vegetable crops.  Knowledge on plant biology and/or plant pathology.  Having a driver’s license and owning a vehicle.

Notes: On average scouts require one year to learn the basics of becoming a crop advisor.  The transition from scout to crop advisor is dependent on the progress and working habits of the candidate.

Job Summary:  Scouting involves mapping areas of pest infestation and evaluating the level of severity by accounting for details such as pest population growth and the presence of beneficial insects.  Our scouts also treat pest hot spots with predatory mites and beneficial insects.  Scouting involves filling out scouting reports and communicating with growers on the status of their crop. 

Opportunities: Scouts showing aptitiude may apply for certification to become exterminators.  Certified exterminators have the task of chemically treating pest hot spots within greenhouses.        

Key Requirements: Applicants must have a willingness to learn, have good communication skills and have the ability to work independently and as a team member.  Scouts must be able to work efficiently in a greenhouse environment.
